Playing For Change – Stand By Me

I was half watching late night TV and mostly ignoring it. Working at the computer with the TV on in the background for company or a distraction or both. Lots of tacky low budget commercials and news clips of doom, which I’ve learned (as we all have) to tune out.

But in the midst of all the crap, I suddenly heard something beautiful… The beginning of that lovely song ‘Stand By Me’. Which made me briefly look away from my computer screen, because this was a version I’d never heard before.

Within about a minute, I was almost in tears (OK, I actually was in tears, I’m sappy that way)…

This is what I saw and it’s so wonderful, I wanted to share it with you:

It’s by a project called Playing for Change.

Which, if you haven’t heard of it, is – to quote directly from their website which I immediately googled – a multimedia movement created to inspire, connect, and bring peace to the world through music. The idea for this project arose from a common belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people. No matter whether people come from different geographic, political, economic, spiritual or ideological backgrounds, music has the universal power to transcend and unite us as one human race. And with this truth firmly fixed in our minds, we set out to share it with the world.

To find out more about this amazing project, visit the ‘Playing For Change’ website: www.playingforchange.com

I hope you take the time to watch the Youtube clip and I hope it brings as much joy to your heart as it did to mine.
